Onsite Wastewater Treatment Facilities: Construction/Operating Permits
Most onsite wastewater systems in Nebraska are constructed under a General Permit, which does not require a construction permit from the State of Nebraska. However, some systems will require a permit as a result of the quantity or quality of the wastewater generated or site conditions that do not meet General Permit requirements.
Systems which do not meet General Permit requirements must obtain a Construction Permit prior to construction of the system. The Construction Permit application requires plans to be submitted by a Professional Engineer. To locate a Professional Engineer, visit the State of Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architect’s website. Be sure to select ‘Active’ status.
