NOTICE OF INTENT TO REISSUE PERMIT #NE0120782
for Holdrege Prairie Hill Municipal Solid Waste Landfill
under consideration by the
Nebraska Department of Water, Energy & Environment
PUBLIC NOTICE is given in accordance with Title 132 - Integrated Solid Waste Management Regulations, Chapter 2, §011, that the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy & Environment (DWEE) has received an application to renew the permit for City of Holdrege Prairie Hill Municipal Solid Waste Landfill. After review of the permit application, a preliminary determination has been made to recommend issuance of the permit. The term of the permit shall be August 16, 2026 through August 15, 2031.
FACILITY DESCRIPTION. The permit allows the operation of an existing Municipal Solid Waste Landfill under Nebraska's solid waste management laws and regulations. The landfill shall receive household waste, alone or in combination with other types of wastes such as commercial solid waste, industrial waste, nonhazardous sludge, or conditionally exempt small quantity generator waste, and which is not a land application unit, surface impoundment, injection well, or waste pit. The length of the permit will be five years from the issuance date.
FACILITY LOCATION. The property is located at 506 13th Street, Holdrege, Nebraska which is approximately 1 mile south on US Highway 183 and is located at the southwest corner of 13th Street & Highway 183. The legal description of the Holdrege Prairie Hill Municipal Solid Waste Landfill is NW ¼, Section 9, Township 5 North, Range 18 West of the 6th Principal Meridian, Phelps County, Nebraska.
OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENT AND HEARING. The public may submit written comments and may also request a public hearing on the permitting decision. A request for a hearing must be made in writing and state the issues proposed for discussion and their relation to the proposed permit renewal. Public comments and hearing requests shall be made to: Daniel LeMaistre, Waste Permits & Engineering Section Supervisor, Nebraska Department of Water, Energy & Environment, 245 Fallbrook Blvd., Lincoln, NE 68521.
The DWEE will make a final decision to issue or deny the permit based on the permit application of the City of Holdrege Prairie Hill Municipal Solid Waste Landfill, and public comment received. DWEE will notify the applicant and other interested persons.
COMMENT PERIOD. All comments or requests for a hearing must be postmarked by August 3, 2026.

Select “Search” and all of the documents for that facility will appear. Use the “Index of Correspondence” to select the documents related to this public notice.
