DWEE announces Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant awards

The Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE) has announced the award of more than $537,000 in Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funding to eight Nebraska communities.
Nebraska received EECBG funds from the U.S Department of Energy (DOE) in 2024 and has previously awarded $1.1 million in funding to 14 communities. This grant supports local communities in implementing high-impact, self-sustaining energy projects.
“Not only do these EECBG funds improve energy efficiency, they also provide community-wide benefits,” DWEE Director Jesse Bradley said.

Eligible projects included improvements made to the building envelope of public structures; energy efficiency upgrades to existing heating, cooling, and ventilation systems; energy efficiency workforce development and training; and upgrades to energy efficient lighting.
