Electricity Consumption in Nebraska by End–Use Sector

Electricity use in Nebraska rose to 33,571 million kilowatthours in 2023, a decrease of 0.8 percent from 33,844 million kilowatthours in 2022. Each of the sectors used relatively one–third of the electricity consumed in Nebraska in 2023, continuing a trend from 1960. (Figure 1) The industrial sector used 35 percent, the residential sector used 32 percent, and the commercial sector used 34 percent.
